Macbeth Hecate Queen of the Witches
Hecate Queen of the Witches. Hecate is very cross that the witches have interfered with Macbeth’s destiny without her permission and actively creates his downfall. The play focuses on Macbeth’s ambition and the Witches powers of suggestion and profound influence on his and Lady Macbeths destruction.
This production of ‘Candlelit Macbeth ‘was set in the 11th century during a raw and turbulent time in the Scottish Highlands. The designs were inspired by the opulent book of Kells, imagining colours and fabrics that would have been fashionable in a wild Scottish castle. Written at the beginning of James I reign, a king obsessed with witches and their supposed powers and a reign of terror for women, the play speaks of ambition, greed and the power of suggestion and superstition.
This series of designs used oil-based marbling inks, with pen and ink for the details.
Artwork approximate measurements are 48cm by 41cm, framed measurement is 62cm by 55cm.
Artwork comes in a black frame with a double mount in white and black with acrylic glass for safety when shipping, if glass is preferred, please email at patsy@patsyfraser.com
