Stormy Night at Villa Diodati

It is a very stormy night with thunder and lightning at The Villa Diodati. The friends, Byron, Percy, Mary and Polidori challenge themselves to write a scary horror story. Mary Shelley is reading her first draft of Frankenstein; they are all enthralled.

This Candlelit version of Frankenstein was set in 1816/17 when Mary Shelly wrote the first draft one stormy night. The story is told by Mary and includes scenes with Mary, Percy, Byron and Polidori who all compete in the challenge to write the most terrifying horror story.

These designs were created using oil ink marbling, images taken from fashion plates of the time and collage. The measurements are approximate, and this series comes framed. The mount opening measures 50 cm wide by 39cm high and comes in a black frame with a double mount in white and black as pictured. Framed measurements are 64cm by 53cm.
