This production of ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream’ was set in a contemporary summer festival where everyone is frolicking to distant music in the surrounding woods. The show was set in an outside auditorium during a balmy summer evening and sparkled with magical festival fun. The traditional fairies have become shape-changing beings who float and twist like mist on the air and disappear as quickly as they appear. The costumes were achieved by using the finest Habotai silk which was dyed in intense swirling colours as in the marbled designs. Each marbled character design was carefully manipulated and then pulled from the water, resulting in airy shape-changing characters.
