Silhouette Mixed Box of all six designs

£24.00

Silhouette Mixed Box

Original designs are pen and ink on cartridge paper. Cards are printed on 350gsm paper.

Pack of twelve cards in size A6. In this box there are two cards of each design being twelve in all.

Silhouettes have been around for millennia and can be seen on vases and frescos from Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece. Since the mid 18th and 19th centuries silhouettes have been used to show a likeness quickly and simply. At this time the silhouette was achieved by tracing the shadow of the sitter cast onto paper and then cutting out the image in black paper which was set on white paper. This became a popular way of achieving a likeness as it was less expensive than a full portrait and many more people could afford a silhouette likeness.
